Is the Czech Republic a cycle tourism superpower?

Cycle tourism is booming in the Czech Republic. At least, that’s how it appears from the rate at which cycling routes are expanding. There are now more than 37,000 km of bicycle routes and trails in the Czech Republic, according to a survey by CzechTourism. That is roughly the same as in Germany, which country is 4-1/2 times larger. Does this mean that the Czech Republic is a paradise for bicycling lovers?

Travel for health and beauty

These days, altering the way you look through surgery is commonplace. It’s quite safe to say that all you need is money, a good doctor and a bit of determination. Financing the operation and the skill of the surgeon are also factors when choosing the place you undergo the surgery. Many people are not afraid to travel abroad. Medical tourism has become a phenomenon of our time, and thanks to the superb reputation enjoyed by local cosmetic surgeons the Czech Republic is a force to be reckoned with, as far as foreign tourists are concerned, that is – Czechs, it would seem, are far more cautious, and at least for now prefer home-grown specialists.

The golden era of Czech campsites set to return

The number of tourists holidaying at Czech campsites decreases every year. While in 2004 camps received 1.3 million visitors, last year that figure had fallen by 300,000.  So what does the future hold for Czech campsites? Will visitor numbers stagnate further or will we see a revival? Growing interest in ecotourism and agrotourism seems play into camping’s hands, but a lot depends on improving services and marketing.

Holidays in the country: Inexpensive and environmentally friendly

The travel industry is under greater pressure to behave in an environmentally friendly way more than ever. Hotels and travel agents strive to attain ‘environmental’ certification which guarantees their green credentials, and ecology is now not just a good cause but good business sense, too. Agrotourism has, for a long time, been an obvious form of sustainable tourism, and in the Czech Republic it thrives in very specific conditions.
